ABOUT

Troijarra Ebio (aka Troi, aka SYCtattoo) is a first generation Filipino visual and tattoo artist based on Gadigal Land.
Troi has been making art under the pseudonym ‘Sad Youth Club’’ since 2014 as a self publishing platform. They began as a visual artist and zine maker, using traditional mediums (painting series, zine making, paste ups, textiles and print making) to illustrate stories of their identity, heartbreak and existentialism.
Post graduation from the College of Fine Arts UNSW in 2016 (BFA Drawing & Painting), Troi has since ventured into tattooing. Through tattooing, she has felt more liberation in expressing lighter concepts. Showcasing themes of childhood nostalgia and paying homage to classic tattooing styles and iconography.
Their tattoo portfolio is ever changing. Currently inspired by art movements (Surrealism, Outsider Art, Sacred Art), emo music/culture, wacky films and 80s-90s animation.
Main stylistic features include; bold line work and intentional use of contrasting shapes, super soft textures and a signature free-handed chrome shading texture or ‘gh_st energy’.
Their practice and service focuses heavily on the client’s experience in celebrating body image/identities through tattoo curating and collecting. Whether through custom or flash designs, Troi operates in a collaborative mindset to ensure these values.
Outside of art making and tattooing, you can find Troi indulging in horror movies, enjoying galleries and catching up on true crime podcasts.
